The Rings of Power - Prologue Concept Art
Guess who? Some graphic keyframe exploration establishing key events rolled into one shot for the prologue. These first three images were a look at establishing a silhouette for the biggest of baddies in the Tolkien lore. While Sauron has his signature tall, straight prongs atop his helm, these were some ideas to differentiate Morgoth when we only had a blackened silhouette to work with.
Concept for the first frame in a shot where Morgoth closes his fist around the Silmarils as the tree's light behind him is extinguished, fade to black.
As above, with alternate costume/silhouette.
This was close to what ended up in the prologue of episode 1, utilizing an atmospheric shadow of Morgoth growing as the tree's light is extinguished.
This art was in fact extrapolating some of the ideas from the former keyframe and using them instead for Sauron surveying the battle scene.
