Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Aphrodite Automaton Concept Design

The elaborate Aphrodite statue and throne design evolved out of the story point where Percy and Annabeth must retrieve Ares' shield but become ensnared in a trap laid by Hephaestus - anyone who sits in the throne to release the shield gripped by the statue is turned to solid gold.
